TROYES, CHAMPAGNE-ARDENNE FRANCE
Mr. Maurice Mauchauffée, born in 1951 and originally from Troyes, spent his childhood alongside his father, a glove-maker, in their small atelier specializing in hosiery. It is at the 26 rue Bégand, a mythical address for the people of Troyes, that he sharpens his sensibility for the tailoring of stockings and the first women's swimsuits. A precious know-how will be perpetuated from generation to generation and it is Maurice's grandson who takes over the management of the atelier in 1930. After his death, one hundred and twenty employees get organized in order to perpetuate the soul of the place and their ancient know-how. Thus, the Emo atelier was created in 1979 and it’s over the years that the expertise of the atelier is oriented towards outerwear with new techniques such as fine knitting.
