Set in the region of Mazamet, the historic area of the wool and leather industry in the South West of France, the atelier Manufacture des Cuirs de Réalmont was founded by Françoise Catalo in the 1950s, when she was only twenty years old. Specialized in the manufacturing of leather garments, it was actually in the continuity of her own father’s craftsmanship. Indeed, he had a tawery in the 1960s in the area of Graulhet. Today it is directed by his son, François. It is the last atelier in the region to perpetuate this craftsmanship, with a high-quality workmanship that fits the needs of the Parisian fashion houses, therefore preserving the precious culture of craftsmanship of the region.
