Confection du Boischaut Nord
Following the atelier « La Confection Parisienne » founded in 1945 by his grandfather, and the Mapelco trousers atelier created by his father, Richard Boireau is the third recipient of a know-how transmitted from generation to generation. Confection du Boischaut Nord is a family story: Richard and his wife run with an expert hand this atelier created in 1971 by Marc-Henri Bécurey, specialized in shirting from day one.
The activity of the workshop is thoroughly ordered. From one step to another, from a machine to another, the collar, body, cuffs, come into shape and the shirt comes to life.
The atelier is among the rare ones left in France to detain such a high level of craftsmanship in the shirting field. The range of trimmings the seamstresses can perfectly execute is wide: 7 stitches per centimeter seams, 3mm side seams, « sillon » collar assembling… They carry on the know-how of the region of Châteauroux, a prominent region when it comes to garment-making and shirting. It has witnessed the birth of the first ateliers during the 19th century, at a time when manufacturing was still mainly done at home.
