Dunhill Duffle coat

Worn since 1985

HASHEM FARD, PARIS FRANCE

Could you introduce yourself?
My name is Hashem Fard and I am a florist in Paris.

Could you introduce us to this item? Where did it come from? How old is it? How long have you been wearing it?
It is a grey duffle coat from Dunhill, which I bought at Printemps Haussmann in February 1985. Since then, I've always worn it.

Did it belong to anyone else before you? Did you buy it for yourself? Why did you buy it?
No, I bought it for myself, by chance. It attracted me by its quality and especially its particular charm. It was love at first sight and this crush still lasts.

Do you remember the first time you wore it?
I wore it right after I bought it, but I remember the first big occasion I wore it: it was for a job interview in a renowned company. I got the job, by the way!

What are your memories related to this item?
My sister found this duffle coat so charming that she asked me if I would give it to her. Usually I give easily, but this may be the only time I haven't been able to part with an object. The fact that I always feel very comfortable in this light, warm and elegant coat must have a lot to do with it.

Does it show signs of wear and tear?
Yes, the sleeves are grated.

Have you ever fixed this item?
No, but I had the wrists touched up because they were too worn out.

Do you remember the last time you wore it?
I wear this coat as soon as winter arrives, so I recently pulled it out. It is practical because it is both simple and lightweight, although it may seem paradoxical for a duffle coat.
