Painter's trousers

Worn everyday

PIERRE MAZEROLLES, PARIS FRANCE

Could you introduce yourself ?

My name is Pierre, I am a painter. I renovate apartments in Paris and elsewhere. After spending 10 years at Agnès b. I wanted to learn a manual work.

Could you introduce these trousers to us? Where do they come from? How old are they?

They are part of my everyday uniform, I wear these trousers every day. Out of the gate, they are a bit too wide for my taste, so I have them altered by my tailor. He tapers the leg and hems them at 17cm so that they have a nice carrot cut. I have had this particular pair since November 2017 and I tend to get a new pair every two month or so.

Did your trousers belong to someone else before you? Did you buy it for yourself? Why did you buy it? How did you find it?

No, these were new when I got them. I buy them from my paint supplier Heulin Color. However, I am often asked where they come from and I offer a pair to people from time to time.

Do you remember the first time you wore it?

When I started my business and I found these trousers I already knew what alteration I wanted to make on them. I was inspired by the "Shepard" from Agnes b which is an awesome model of carpenter's trousers.

What are your memories of these trousers?

The paint stains which cover my trousers always remind me of the different renovations I have made. For instance, I got the white metallic stain on my left thigh when I was working on the new façade of APC rue Vieille du Temple store. The Middleton Pink stain from Farrow & Ball happened when I was working in an apartment located on avenue Kléber in Paris.

Is there any sign of wear and tear?

It has a lot of paint stains, but it doesn’t have any holes and tear.

When do you usually wear it? Do you remember when you last wore it?

I wear them every day. Even on weekends. As a matter of fact, I am wearing them today on the train taking me to Camargue (Region in France).
