The black sheep, known as Pecora Nera© in Italian, is the metaphor of a person viewed as marginal. This expression is derived from the contrast between the large proportion of white sheep and the much lower one of black sheep. However dark sheep were the norm before the textile industry prefered white wool for its large dyeing possibilities.
The selection of these sheep is the result of the meticulous work carried out by a passionate New-Zealand breeder providing the Pecora Nera© wool, and who was introduced to us by an italian spinner.
The Pecora Nera© wool is naturally dark, resistant and luminous. This fabric celebrates the natural color of undyed black sheep with its shades ranging from bronze to ebony. With its great softness, it combines the qualities of wool with a natural and organic colour which avoids the use of additional dyes. With an emphasis on organic farming, this wool pays tribute to nature. De Bonne Facture features the undyed Pecora Nera© wool in some pieces with a textured bouclé aspect, providing with it a warm authenticity.
