Recycled extrafine wool
EDITION 13
January 13th, 2020
The North of Italy specializes in wool manufacturing. In the region of Biella, some factories have developed an effective and innovative recycling process: the mills collect the wool fibers that escape from the machines during the weaving process, re-spin and weave them in order to reuse them in their production. The used wool is then collected and sorted out by color before being mechanically spun, limiting waste production during the weaving process. This ancient technique is more and more frequently adopted by manufacturers who are both looking to limit their environmental impact and make the most effective use of their raw materials.
The atelier we work with for our recycled wool pieces is specialized in high-quality tailoring materials. The combination of the extrafine wool fibers, used to make men’s suits, and the weaver’s technique make an extremely soft wool, with a feel that is close to cashmere. This recycled wool effectively blends durability and refinement. The softness of the material is matched by a deconstructed fit with curved lines, bringing a casual touch to the silhouette.
All of our recycled wool garments are signaled on our website by the icon “Recycled” at the bottom of their product page.
