Organic cotton yarn

Organic cotton yarn

EDITION 10

May 25th, 2018

Cotton is a natural fiber, it appears when the cotton flower blooms. During the flowering period, the buds of its large white and yellow flowers blossom and release the cotton seeds wrapped in a roach of white and silky fibers. These fibers can measure between two and five centimeters depending on the variety, they are mostly used in order to make fabrics.

"Pima" and "Tanguis" are among the noblest varieties of cotton and are renowned for their long, breathable and resistant fibers. They are mainly grown in Peru, a country renowned for the quality of its cotton production. Indeed, the textile tradition of Peru is said to date back from the pre-Inca period.

In order to make our summer sweaters, we have selected an organic "Tanguis" cotton yarn from Peru. It is undyed, and thus its fibers preserve their finesse, their softness as well as their natural off white shade. This yarn is GOTS certified, Global Organic Textile Standard, which enables us to guarantee that all stages of fiber processing comply with environmental and social criteria according to the Ecocert label. Our summer sweaters have been carefully knitted in France by SJ LA Manufacture, in Saint James, Normandy. Their fit is comfortable and relaxed. They are perfectly suited for the changing weather of spring and summer days, and chilly evenings.

Wool Seersucker Wool Seersucker 24 MAY 2023
Originating from India, seersucker is recognizable by its waffle texture which removes the fabric from the skin, allowing air to circulate more easily. This wavy look is achieved by weaving a taut weft yarn and a looser warp yarn. The term seersucker comes from the Persian words “shîr” and “shakar”, meaning respectively milk and sugar. The milk symbolizes the smooth parts of the fabric while the sugar symbolizes the rough parts. Discovered by the English during the colonial period, this fabric was then exported to the United States where it was notably adopted by Ivy League students.
