We are proud to present our collaboration with Marcel Lassance, a pioneer of Parisian men’s style. Together, we revisited a late-90s Marcel Lassance vintage coat, reissued from De Bonne Facture’s archive fabrics. Originally inspired by coachmen’s coats, it features all the signature details of the Marcel Lassance label. This piece marks the first of a series of collaborations with Marcel Lassance, celebrating shared values of craftsmanship, authenticity, and timeless style.
Our collaboration with Marcel Lassance grew naturally from a shared sensibility: a desire to break the rigidity of traditional tailoring and to create timeless garments, softly constructed, with noble materials and discreet refinement.
The coachman’s coat comes in two fabric options.
The first fabric, sourced from De Bonne Facture’s archives, is a 'ratine' cloth recalling the traditional 'Casentino' style. Originating in the Casentino Valley of Tuscany, this historic fabric is known for its unique curled surface, developed to enhance warmth, durability, and water-resistance. Traditionally made in bold colors such as bright orange and green, Casentino cloth has been worn by shepherds, monks, and aristocrats alike, celebrated for its rustic elegance and enduring performance. This particular version comes from a specialist luxury weaver located in the region of Florence, Italy, founded in the early 20th century. With more than a century of craftsmanship, the mill carries forward a heritage of meticulous weaving techniques and refined finishing, giving this textile its exceptional character, comfort, and timeless Italian sophistication.
The coat reveals a unique collar detail. The undercollar is in a contrasted fabric sourced from De Bonne Facture’s archive. A hidden button under the collar allows to raise it, to protect from the cold and reveal this special detail.
The second fabric is a moleskin woven by a specialist manufacturer in north Manchester, dating back to the 19th century. It is characterized by a high density of warp and weft threads, giving it a smooth, velvety texture. Its surface is brushed, creating a soft, supple feel that will develop an elegant patina over time.
