We are proud to present our latest collaboration with Marcel Lassance, a pioneer of Parisian men's style. Together, we revisited a late-90s Marcel Lassance "Vaneau" shirt, a hybrid of city shirt and overshirt with two side slits, designed to be worn untucked. For this reissue, we chose one of De Bonne Facture's signature poplin fabrics from Thomas Mason, while featuring all the signature details of Marcel Lassance's original brand.
Our collaboration with Marcel Lassance grew naturally from a shared sensibility: a desire to break the rigidity of traditional tailoring and to create timeless garments, softly constructed, with noble materials and discreet refinement.
Cotton poplin is the classic fabric for traditional shirting. Poplin being a plain weave, its character comes not from the pattern itself, but from the yarn and the density.
Our classic cotton poplin is woven from fine yarns twisted in pairs before weaving. The result is a fabric that is both fine and dense. Its firmness allows for the structure that is necessary in shirting, especially for details such as collars and cuffs.
The cotton itself is a precious Egyptian cotton, with a rare extra-long staple. That long and fine fibre allows for a cloth that is smooth and lustrous. This exceptional fabric, dense with a silky touch, was developed by an English house founded in 1796, and is woven today in Italy, near Bergamo.
